SSETI ESEO OBDH
SSETI ESEO OBDH Core
OBDH (On-Board Data Handling System) Core for the
ESEO
micro-satellite is being developed with the use of PC/104 industrial computer
equipped with Pentium processor.
OBDH Core controls data flow on board the spacecraft as well as data flow
between GS (Ground Station) and spacecraft itself using the radio
connection provided by COMM (telecommand and telemetry packets are means of
communication). As a result of that, OBDH allows GS to monitor and control the
operations of ESEO. However, OBDH Core is autonomous to some degree. When
there’s no GS coverage OBDH Core shall execute the scheduled operations and
monitor the key parameters. OBDH Core shall take all reasonable steps to
minimize the consequences of detected errors.
Software
Software is running on Linux with 2.6.9 kernel and
Real-Time Application Interface patch. It is being written in C++ mostly. Small
parts are writeen in C.
Hardware
OBDH Core, together with Attitute and Orbit Control
System (delivered by students from Portugal) computer, is closed within
alluminium box. OBDH Core consists of threeindustrial PC/104 boards. First one
is a PC computer board. Second is so called auxiliary board. Its main function
is to communicate with on-board devices using two CAN buses. It is a custom made
board by SKIK students. Third board is a voltage converter board.
